Accessible PDFs from

Google Docs & Slides

Google’s direct PDF export gives you little control over tags. Author in Google, then finish the PDF in Office.

Build the Google file accessibly

  • Use real heading styles, lists, and tables.
  • Add alt text to images and use meaningful link text.
  • Keep good color contrast and don’t rely on color alone.

Get a tagged PDF

  1. Choose File › Download › Microsoft Word (.docx) or PowerPoint (.pptx).
  2. Open the file in Word or PowerPoint and run the Accessibility Checker.
  3. Export with “Document structure tags for accessibility” enabled, as on the Word page.
  4. If you must download a PDF directly from Google, verify it before posting it as the official copy.

Then verify the result

Upload the exported PDF to our Tagged PDF Builder for an instant accessibility preflight — tags, alt text, and structure — and fix anything it flags.
